Center for Disability & Elder Law
For more than forty years, the Center for Disability and Elder Law (CDEL) has provided education and full in-house representation to low-income seniors and persons with disabilities living in Cook County. Within four main areas of practice—end of life planning, adult guardianship, housing, and consumer issues–CDEL offers education and direct legal service on basic estate planning, landlord/tenant issues, real property, collections defense, and representation on divorce and financial elder abuse. Because CDEL clients’ age or disability affects their mobility, the agency brings its services to them through neighborhood workshops, outreach presentations, and seven different programs. CDEL has a significant investment not only in the low-income elderly community and low-income persons with disabilities, but also in the LGBTQ+ community and in some of Chicago’s economically neediest neighborhoods.
