Adaptive Adventures
Adaptive Adventures provides and establishes sustainable outdoor sports programs for individuals with physical disabilities and their families in the most underserved communities across the country, providing freedom through mobility and normalizing adaptation in sports. As the only fully mobile adaptive sports program in the country, we bring the programs to the people, removing all barriers, including location, equipment needs and economic status. Unlike most site-based adaptive sports programs, Adaptive Adventures includes the family and provides all programs free of charge. Adaptive Adventures provides and establishes outdoor sports programs to serve children, adults, and veterans with physical disabilities and their families. Adaptive Adventures acts as a catalyst in unserved and underserved communities by establishing sustainable programming through collaboration, training, equipment, resources and administrative support. Once established, Adaptive Adventures continues to invest in these communities by introducing additional opportunities. To create a more inclusive and accessible world, Adaptive Adventures trains and educates healthcare providers, outfitters, climbing gyms, bike shops, community organizations, corporate groups, brands, and retailers in the implementation of sports programs, disability awareness, patient assessment and fitting, inclusive design, equipment mechanics and more. Adaptive Adventures partners with equipment manufacturers, University Human Engineering programs and outdoor retailers to further reduce barriers through disruptive technology and innovating new adaptations. Adaptive Adventures is focused on individuals becoming independent in the sports of their choice and not relying on adaptive sports agencies for services. We train outfitters and organizations in their communities to provide greater accessibility and inclusion so that they may go to the local bike shop for repairs, climb at their local gym and paddle with their local outfitter. Adaptive Adventures partners with over 180 organizations each year to provide training, education, and programming and also includes training for mentors with disabilities, who facilitate programming.
