Colorado Discover Ability has partnered with local health care providers from Grand Junction to design a unique, 3-day camp experience for children 6-13 years old. Each 3-day camp is at the Kiwanis Camp in the Grand Mesa National Forest in Western Colorado.
Camp activities include rafting, kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, crafts, games, fishing, outdoor education, swimming and camp fires.
Camp Freedom is staffed by volunteers who have a special interest in children with disabilities and who can facilitate a safe, energetic environment. The founding volunteers have a wide range of expertise and experience working with children who have disabilities: physicians, physical therapists, and occupational therapists. Colorado Discover Ability, an established adaptive outdoor recreation organization, advises and supports the camp in administration, logistics, and coordination.
