Notes

Hiking and overnight camping trips are a favorite activity of many who take part in CDA programs. Some prefer to hike and camp in the tall spruce of Grand Mesa while others prefer the shores of Lake Powell.

Regardless of the location, participants enjoy fresh air, great views, fantastic food, and good times with fellow campers.

Colorado Discover Ability's hiking and camping program is by special request for individuals, groups and families. What better way to experience the beauty of our Western Colorado home than to hike and camp on the Grand Mesa? Grand Mesa is the largest flattop mountain in the world, which is thick with alpine lakes. These lakes offer some of the best fishing in the area and are incredibly pleasing to the eye. If you want to concentrate on fishing, we can help you set that up. We can outfit your trip so you won't have to worry about anything other than your line.

Hiking opportunities abound around the Grand Valley and on the Grand Mesa. You can choose from any length of day hike or an overnight trip with us for a longer hike. We will take care of the camping details, feed you very well and make sure that your hiking adventure is safe and successful. If you are visually impaired and would just like a guide/helper to go out with you, we have number of people that can help with your outdoor experience.

We are developing wheelchair hiking systems that are truly off-road wonders. Doug Hayduk is a friend of our organization who also happened to be an innovator of major proportions. Doug is working on a few, single-track devices with hand cranks that will enable wheelchair athletes to get off the beaten path.
