Physical activity promotes self-confidence, independence and overall wellness. At Hospital for Special Care - we offer many opportunities for participation in sports and fitness activities, from our state-of-the-art Aquatic Rehabilitation Center to our sports programs for people with disabilities. Our commitment is to expand our programs to allow the estimated 35,000 children and adults with a physical disability throughout the state the opportunity to do what the rest of us do every day -play sports, participate in fitness programs, and stay as fit and healthy as possible.

Whether someone is a weekend warrior or a Paralympic-level athlete, the Hospital for Special Care is committed to making sure that every individual with a physical disabilitywho wants to participate in an athletic program has the opportunity to do so.

Sports Programs
  • Supreme Sports - Unique sport opportunities for juniors. Supreme Sports will meet one Saturday a month year round. Activities will range from Sailing to Tennis to Skiing.
  • Cruisers Sports Team - Sports team for junior wheelchair athletes. Athletes compete in track & field events, and weightlifting. Athletes compete locally, regionally and nationally.
  • Cruisers Swim Team - The WAVE The WAVE is the newest of the sport opportunities offered in the HSC Aquatic Rehabilitation Center. The WAVE swimmers are currently all juniors, but the team will be expanding to include adults. Swimmers compete locally, regionally and nationally.
  • Junior and Women's Wheelchair Basketball - Both a junior and a women's basketball team have been established to introduce the sport to all ages and abilities. The basketball teams will begin by competing locally and, as the teams progress, they will compete regionally and nationally. Look for upcoming events, program and clinics:

    All clinics are open to anyone wishing to learn more about sports and fitness opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Most clinics are held at HSC.
