Consult a physician for the following conditions:
- Retinopathy or current retinal hemorrhage, such as a result from recent laser therapy for retinopathy
- Illness or infection
- Neuropathy (nerve damage), which can prevent one from feeling pain in various parts of the body, such as the chest (angina pectoris) and the feet
- Foot injuries, which can lead to foot ulcers and possible amputations
- High blood pressure, which can contribute to problems with the eyes and the kidneys. Beta blocking agents taken for this condition can inhibit the body's ability to control for hypoglycemia
