Disabilities Studies here at the University of Illinois at Chicago and former graduate assistant with NCHPAD (among so many other things!). It didn't take Anne long to make a lasting impression on us in her short time here at NCHPAD and we were just one of her many stops along a path that left deep footprints in 24 short, but extremely significant, years of life.
To learn more about Annie and her accomplishments, go to the following link from the Chicago Tribune "Legacies" section at http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-hed-hopkins-23jan23,0,1750019.story and visit the websites she founded at www.anniedhopkins.com and www.3elove.com. There will be a memorial foundation set up in her name to provide scholarships for other children with disabilities who have the potential to carry on her work. Information on the foundation will also be available on these websites.
3E Love is more than living disabled but is simply about living. Everyone has the freedom to live their life. We challenge you to do what you love, because you'll meet some amazing people along the way, and that, our friends, is how you'll enjoy this ride that 3E Love calls life.
Embrace diversity. Educate your community. Empower each other.
"She never cared that she couldn't walk, she just wished she could have danced."
Annie, you will be deeply missed and always remembered.
