Detroit's bike sharing system, known as MoGo began in 2017. As it was being developed, however, the planners were approached by Programs to Educate All Cyclists (PEAC) a local disability organization that educates individuals with disabilities on how to use bikes as a means of transportation and empowerment. MoGo is piloting a small fleet of 13 different accessible bikes and collecting data from users on what the best options are in order to scale the program up to a larger fleet. The partnership hopes to bring awareness to the broader spectrum of transportation needs of the Detroit community and promote inclusion.
