Visiting Project Coordinator for Instructional Technology, University of Illinois at Chicago

The Center on Health Promotion Research in the Department of Disability and Human Development at the University of Illinois at Chicago seeks qualified candidates for a full-time Visiting Project Coordinator for Instructional Technology. The successful candidate will apply the adult learning model in e-learning, distance learning, and all training to produce materials for websites and research projects conducted by the Center. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to working collaboratively with research staff to design, develop, and update existing online, hybrid, or web-enhanced programs as well as individual courses using instructional technology tools and the instructional design process under strict deadlines.

The candidate must have a minimum of a Master's degree or a Ph.D. (All But Dissertation acceptable) in Instructional Technology or a related field such as computer science, information and decisions science, engineering (mechanical, industrial, electrical), business management, or other heavy computerized discipline. S/he must be familiar with and proficient in the languages of: HTML, PHP, JavaScript, and/or VBScript. Software: PHP, FrontPage, Dreamweaver, PhotoShop, Fireworks, and Flash. S/he must process strong oral and written communication skills and have knowledge of various operating systems, file structures, file formats, and protocols.

Visiting Research Data Analyst, University of Illinois at Chicago

The Center on Health Promotion Research in the Department of Disability and Human Development at the University of Illinois at Chicago has a position opening for a visiting research data analyst. The candidate will assist researchers in developing appropriate study protocols, designing research questionnaires, data-gathering techniques, and data reduction to decrease bias or error in data. The candidate will also develop and analyze a variety of research data, perform statistical and graphical analysis, and develop and distribute reports when necessary. S/he will ensure the timeliness and quality of statistical and programming deliverables according to project timelines.

This candidate must have a minimum of a Master's degree in Epidemiology, Statistics, or Biomedical Sciences or other related area; at least 5-6 years' relevant work experience or postdoctoral experience in Biostatistics/Statistics or other related area; and at least 1-2 years' relevant work experience. Knowledge and experience with several computer programs, including SAS, SPSS, Stata, Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.

Chicago Park District Therapeutic Recreation Positions

Therapeutic Recreation Leader: Individuals who have 1 year of experience working with individuals with disabilities are eligible to apply. Candidates will provide assistance to staff in planning and conducting cultural and recreational activities, as well as sports leagues and tournaments for children and adults with disabilities.

Therapeutic Recreation Instructor: This position is open to individuals who have at least 20 credit hours in an accredited college or university in Therapeutic Recreation, Physical Education, Recreation, or a closely related field, plus one year experience in Therapeutic Recreation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An Associate of Arts degree in one of these fields is recommended, and a Bachelor of Arts degree is preferred.

The Therapeutic Recreation Instructor is responsible for planning and implementing a community recreation program for individuals with disabilities. The program includes cultural and recreational activities, sport skill development, as well as leagues and tournaments for individuals involved in Special Olympics and Paralympic competitions.

Faculty Position, Department of Exercise Science, Syracuse University

The Department seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin in August 2007. Candidates should hold an earned doctorate in exercise physiology or related discipline; post-doctoral experience is highly preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a solid, extramurally funded research program, contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching, and to advise MS and PhD student research. Outstanding candidates in all areas of physiology will be considered; special consideration will be given to investigators that complement a new institutional commitment in disability, such as those who study exercise and disability (intellectual, physical, disease- or age-related disability) at any level (basic or applied science). Unique opportunities exist for participation in translational exercise research and interdisciplinary research in collaboration with the basic science departments, gerontology center, disability studies, SUNY Upstate Medical University, and the Institute for Human Performance.
