Notes

The Utah Ski Trip is a one week skiing and winter sports program for children ages 10 to 19. Accompanied by our experienced counselors, twenty-five children, many with disabilities associated with their cancer or treatment, will travel to Park City, Utah where they will receive expert and individual instruction in downhill skiing by certified coaches from the National Ability Center (NAC). Working with the coaches, the children will challenge themselves in new ways, building their confidence as they learn new skills and achieve their goals. Children return from this trip with an incredible sense of accomplishment and enormous boost to their self-esteem. Adaptive ski equipment is provided by NAC when needed. In addition to skiing, the kids also enjoy activities that in the past have included horse back riding, inner-tubing, and an evening sleigh ride in the pristine Utah mountains. A particular favorite excursion has been to an indoor recreational facility with a disability- friendly water program. Like all One Step At A Time programs, this trip will include a volunteer staff of experienced counselors and medical professionals to ensure that each child is able to enjoy the trip regardless of their medical circumstances.
