Description
  • ARISE at the Farm is a Day Camp & Recreational Facility built on an 84 acre working horse farm. They offer recreational programs for people with disabilities. All of our programs are inclusive and open to people of all abilities. Programs include: Summer Day Camps, Horsemanship Camps, Adaptive, Therapeutic and Recreational Riding as well as providing riding lessons. They also offer fishing, adaptive cycling, arts & crafts, adventure games and activities, high and low ropes course, and more.

ARISE at the Farm is open year-round; due to seasonal changes some activities may be limited to the warmer months. The riding arena and training/activity rooms will be available for horseback riding, horsecart driving, educational activities and arts and crafts throughout the year.

Notes

Horses

We love having people at the Farm! And people love horses! Many children and adults use the horseback riding and horsecart driving lessons to accomplish physical, cognitive, social and psychological goals. Others ride the horses and learn to drive the horse carts for purely recreational reasons. We have adaptive equipment and volunteers on hand to make sure everyone gets to participate regardless of their level of ability.

Outdoor Activities

The People Path at the Farm is a 9/10th mile track that is wheelchair accessible. And our horse path is exactly one kilometer. There are benches every few hundred feet for resting and viewing the scenery. Foot and hand pedaled bicycles are welcome on the People Path. ARISE at the Farm does have hand pedaled bicycles for use by children and adults. These handcycles can be borrowed for use on the path.

For those with a taste for adventure, we have a universally designed Ropes Challenge Course. Designed and installed by the renowned Project Adventure, the ropes challenge course is accessible to all and can be great fun as an individual or team-building exercise.

On a hot summer day, who doesn't think of spending the afternoon with a fishing pole? The fishing pond at the Farm has a wheelchair accessible deck and is stocked regularly with perch and sunfish. And since we have a catch and release policy, no one gets hurt.

Family Fun

The Farm has a lot to offer you and your family. If you like animals, you'll love spending time with ours- we have cows, goats, chickens, and rabbits. Into the arts? Then you'll love the arts and crafts projects.
