  • The Southeast Disability and Business Technical Assistance Center is one of ten Regional ADA & I T Centers on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and accessible information technology (IT) in education funded since 1991 by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR).

    The Southeast DBTAC, located within the Center for Assistive Technology and Environmental Access (CATEA) at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, serves as the Regional Center for an extended leadership network of State and Local ADA and information technology in education Partners from each of the following eight U.S. Southeast Region states:

    Alabama (AL), Florida (FL), Georgia (GA), Kentucky (KY), Mississippi (MS), North Carolina (NC), South Carolina (SC), Tennessee (TN).

    Designated state leaders serve as the facilitators around which statewide activities are organized. ADA State Affiliates and an Education Leadership Team in turn strengthen each respective statewide infrastructure in supporting Local ADA and accessible information technology in Education networks. Collaborating groups and individuals representing disability, business, and government entities dedicated to informing their constituents, people with disabilities, and the public about the ADA and accessible information technology are welcome to become a Southeast DBTAC Local Affiliate and join the Southeast DBTAC Email List.

Our Services

The Southeast DBTAC offers five core services to promote awareness about the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), accessible information technology (IT), and the rights and abilities of people with disabilities.

Technical Assistance
Qualified Information Specialists promptly answer questions about the ADA and accessible information technology in response to inquiries. All calls are strictly confidential. Anyone seeking information is encouraged to call us at 1-800-949-4232 (v/tty) or complete the online "Request for Assistance Form".

Materials Dissemination
The Southeast DBTAC together with their Leadership Network of ADA Affiliates and Education Leadership Team, disseminate information and materials that are accurate, reliable, and up-to-date.

Training
"Ready-to-use" tips, techniques, strategies, and resources to help deliver quality ADA and accessible information technology programs are available online. Customized workshops, seminars, and presentations are conducted by Southeast DBTAC Staff or are arranged through our Leadership Network.

Referrals
Referrals are made to regional experts for specialized assistance. ADA Affiliates and Education Leadership Team Members from each state are knowledgeable about additional in-state resources and programs.

Public Awareness
The Southeast DBTAC, together with our State and Local ADA Affiliates and Education Leadership Team, sponsors an array of activities designed to increase awareness about the benefits of effective ADA compliance and accessible information technology for everyone.
