About My name is Dot. I know that my quality of life will depend on my faithfully exercising regularly--but I have found it hard to fit physical activity into my schedule, so I need to prioritize it. I have spina bifida and use a wheelchair, and have some problems with my right shoulder due to overuse. But I have an arm ergometer in my home that I can also attach my legs to for circulation; there is a free rec center nearby with two NuStep machines; and I want to keep my arms strong so that I can transfer into my kayak in a local lake in the summer. I also use my Exerstrider poles at a nearby park but not often enough! I have had some health problems and many surgeries over the last 18 months but I am healed now and look forward to increasing my fitness!

Welcome to NCPAD's 14-Week Program to a Healthier You!

What is the program?

  • Description: A free, personalized, web-based physical activity and nutrition program
  • Target Audience: People with mobility limitations, chronic health conditions and physical disabilities
  • Goal: To help you get moving and making healthy nutrition choices
  • Duration: 14 weeks

How does it work?

  • You register for the program and tell us a little about yourself.
  • We take the information you gave us and, to the best of our abilities, provide you with personalized resources and exercises that meet your individual needs over the course of 14 weeks.
  • Because there is new material each week that builds on the previous weeks, the program works best if you visit at least once a week.
