About Hi, I'm Tom in Houston. I had a SCI (L4/L5 incomplete) that put me in a wheelchair. I was regularly sports active and very outdoorsy (you can search "Green Hat Geocacher" within YouTube to see more) before the injury and I still try to get outside when the weather here in TX is decent. When I was injured, I was living in LA and was an actor there. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOxDy_p2osI) While I still enjoy photography (thomasgurnee.com) I don't do very much of it anymore because I don't get out as much as I'd like. Hence, I write now and am finishing my second book. When I do finish and post it onto Amazon, I'll be sure to tell you all about it. Speaking of books, I am doing research of my own into why we, as disability survivors in one way or another, have chosen to "stay" here and live out our lives. As for me, the past 3 1/2 years have been mental hell and I finally made it out of that rabbit hole and back into life. There's an inate intelligence I believe that works for us and keeps us pressing on. I want to delve more into what this is and learn why you are still motivated to remain here in the body you now have. I invite you to reach out to me and perhaps I can interview you regarding your story and see if you might be a good fit for my book. Thank you. Welcome to NCPAD's 14-Week Program to a Healthier You!

What is the program?

  • Description: A free, personalized, web-based physical activity and nutrition program
  • Target Audience: People with mobility limitations, chronic health conditions and physical disabilities
  • Goal: To help you get moving and making healthy nutrition choices
  • Duration: 14 weeks

How does it work?

  • You register for the program and tell us a little about yourself.
  • We take the information you gave us and, to the best of our abilities, provide you with personalized resources and exercises that meet your individual needs over the course of 14 weeks.
  • Because there is new material each week that builds on the previous weeks, the program works best if you visit at least once a week.
