Cherry buds covered by a layer of ice

February is often considered the brief interlude between winter and spring. Yet these 28 days provide ample time for you to begin living your best, most active life possible. Whether you desire to compete in your first half-marathon or simply want to walk or roll a single mile, this is your month to gear up for spring.

There’s something for everyone in this month’s newsletter. In this month’s Training Corner, learn creative tips on how you and your sweetheart (or friend or family member) can work out together regardless of differing ability levels.

For those Einstein wannabes out there, we’ve taken fat to a scientific level in this month’s Nutrition Spotlight. Trans, monounsaturated, and polyunsaturated may sound Greek to you now, but Michelle breaks everything down nicely in her column.

With more than 20 years’ experience in wheelchair sports, Lisa Hilborn could be called an expert in sport wheelchair configuration. In this month’s F.I.T.T. Column, she explains a variety of considerations one should take when preparing their sports wheelchair for excellence.

And that is just a peek of what’s in store for you this month! Be sure to check out our new Kids Korner that’s all about the heart as well as our Research Corner, Community Spotlight and From the Information Specialist Desk.

Please share with us what you’d like to read about. Feel free to email me at lauraw@lakeshore.org or comment on any of our columnists’ articles.

Here’s to a healthier heart in the month of love!
