Mission

Partners in Adventures programs are designed to honor diversity. Regardless of our physical and mental attributes, we all have the ability to learn, to give and to grow. Partners In Adventure provides unique experiences to young people with and without disabilities, that foster independence and build self-esteem. Partners In Adventure creates personal partnerships that facilitate safe social exploration while learning more about the world.

Purpose Partners In Adventure provides camps and year-round social and recreation programs partnering disabled teens with non-disabled peers in northern Vermont. We offer individuals opportunities to be included as participants in their communities, to enjoy enriching experiences adapted to their specific needs and to learn about tolerance and diversity.

Programming Our campers reflect the full range of abilities. So we program adaptive activities that insure access and enjoyment for each and every one. PIA staff and visiting instructors strive to provide camp experiences geared to every campers abilities. All of our workshops are led by skilled instructors with a proven sensitivity to wide-ranging learning styles. Equipment and teaching techniques are chosen and even modified on site to ensure the success of each camper.

Summer Camp In the summer, young people (ages 12 to 22) with and without disabilities will go swimming, boating, play tennis, wall climb, do archery, gymnastics, cook, explore arts, crafts, science and nature, play games, dance, make music and immerse themselves in the outdoors.

All programs are taught by trained instructors. Each session will include field trips to a variety of locations. New workshops are added each session. All activities are non-competitive and adaptive.

Winter Camp Partners In Adventure is offering a February Vacation Camp of adaptive seasonal activities. Winter Camp activities are designed to make sure that all outdoor activities are combined with warm indoor activities.

Socials Through our association with BPOE Elks Club and other benevolent community organizations, we offer four free seasonally thematic "Socials" with DJs, dinner and dancing. Our school year dance parties provide fully inclusive opportunities for social interaction.
