Notes

Intermediate Kayak Camp is for children and teens ages 10-15. Campers must have some experience either kayaking or canoeing and must be a functional swimmer. Intermediate Kayak Camp will include simple rescues, traveling in kayaks, packing a kayak, safety lessons, and advanced strokes such as sculling and bracing. All lessons are from the ACA curriculum.

An overnight campout on Thursday night of camp is included in Intermediate Kayak Camp. The overnight campout will be at Greenwell's water-access camp site. The overnight will be supervised by both male and female counselors as well as one adult. Cooking will be supervised by a counselor. Food allergies can be accommodated. Parents are invited to join their camper(s) for dinner at 5pm Thursday. Pickup will be on Friday at the regular time.

Campers should wear their swimsuit under their clothing. Each child must bring a water bottle, lunch, closed-toe shoes (water shoes with laces work best), sunscreen, and a complete change of clothing daily. A hat is also helpful while on the water. More details on gear needed for the overnight will be forthcoming. Extended care before and/or after camp is available for an additional fee.
