Notes

Ride To Pride Partnership, Inc., provides a variety of equine assisted programs and behavioral health services for youth and families throughout northern New Mexico. Specializing in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy Ride To Pride engages juvenile offenders and troubled, abused and neglected children and their families through the use of horses to teach life skills, which help them to better deal with today's societal problems.

The Equine Assisted Psychotherapy Program uses horses in the treatment of emotional health problems in children and adolescents.EAP is a short term, collaborative effort between a therapist and a horsemanship instructor. The RTPP therapy program was originally developed to provide an equine-based experience to strengthen traditional psychotherapy sessions for high-risk youth with various behavioral disorders. The students are referred by the juvenile justice system and local school districts in San Miguel County. A therapist from our clinical team works with the student during a horsemanship session. The therapist is able to observe critical behaviors and process them as they emerge. The horsemanship sessions offer a common avenue of experience between the student and the therapist and lead to important areas of problem solving.
