Notes

We are a private, non-profit organization established and dedicated to serving the recreational needs of adults and children with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.

Located on 116 beautiful acres in Houston County, MN, Camp Winnebago lends itself to many of natures finest activites: hiking our bluffs and trails, fishing for trout in the Winnebago Creek and camping out at Hidden Hope Island.

We also have a swimming pool, barn and nature building, sports field, picnic area, music and crafts rooms, a large dining hall and modern cabins.

A network of sidewalks and ramps make for easy access to all camp buildings and program areas. We are a private, non-profit organization established and dedicated to serving the recreational needs of adults and children with developmental disabilities.

All individuals with developmental disabilities, six years of age and older are eligible to attend.

Our Mission: To enhance, through a diversity of experiences, the self-worth, independence, and quality of life of people with developmental disabilities. Our camp staff is Camp Winnebagos strongest asset. This dedicated and enthusiastic group of young people is specifically recruited and trained to work with individuals with developmental disabilities.

Our camper to staff ratio is approximately two to one, although other arrangements maybe made based on an individual ability level, to ensure a quality experience.

Programs Include:

  • Summer Sessions
A variety of traditional summer camp activities abound: swimming, cooking over a fire, games, arts and crafts, dancing and more. Activities are adapted to the age and ability each camper. Each Weekly session begins on Monday at 1:00 PM and ends the following Friday at 1:00 PM. The cost per camper for this week long session is $850.00 per camper. Scholarships maybe available to help defray this cost.

  • Trips
Travel vacations are offered to individuals with developmental disabilities18 and older who demonstrate proper social behavior and are free from major medical considerations. Trips are arranged for groups of eight participants or less to ensure individuals the opportunity to plan and make decisions and to participate fully in public recreational activities. Camp staff function as travel guides and companions. Since these trips are custom designed for each group, costs cannot be quoted until the trip details are known.

  • One Day Outings
Pre-Registration is required. We offer campers the opportunity to visit local attractions or pursue new recreational activities through day long outings. Participants return to the Camp for the evening and still participate in favorite camp activities. Outings are available to registered campers. The cost for these trips depend on the individual outing.
