This unique camp is available free of charge for parents and children who use a Dynovox/Dynamyte augmentative device to communicate.

Parents have the opportunity to meet with other parents to discuss concerns in a supportive environment. In addition, technical support from the Dynavox company is available to provide programming needs and discuss transition goals. Parent surveys indicate an overwhelming positive experience with the service and support provided by Camp McYack.

This camp is funded by the Jackson County, state transition grant, and donations from local companies.

Cabins are available for free to sleep over or hotel phone numbers can be given out upon request. You must bring your own bedding if you are staying in a cabin.

  • Camp is free!
  • Camp is limited to 23 users.
  • A parent, caregiver, or other responsible adult must accompany each user.
  • The camp does not provide transportation
  • Programming for the device may be available via email/internet (depending on the device).

Who is sponsoring the Camp?
Camp McYack is being sponsored by the Jackson County Intermediate School District�s (JCISD) transition grant, Dynavox Technologies, and local businesses.

Camp Highlights:

  • Students will be given the opportunity to interact with other AAC users.
  • Each student will be given the opportunity to experience real life situations.
  • Parents will be assisted in programming the device for camp.
  • Dynavox representatives will be there to provide support.
  • It will allow parents to help and advise other parents.
