Notes

Ride-A-Wave is dedicated to the thought that everyone, no matter what physical disabilities life might have given them, should have a chance to take pleasure from a day in the sun, enjoying all the wonder the ocean has to offer.

Officially formed in 1998, Ride A Wave is a non-profit organization with a 100% volunteer staff. Generous contributions (how you can donate) of cash, equipment and food will enable us to be involved in a total of ten camps this year. We host approximately 30 participants and 30 volunteers per event.

The positive community response has been tremendous, and its success has already inspired surf organizations in several other locations to model similar programs based on Ride A Wave.

Mission Statement: To give everyone the chance to experience the thrill of riding a wave, whether they have physical or developmental disabilities. Our focus is to eliminate any barriers that may stand in the way of fully enjoying the environment.

Ride-A-Wave Goals: To ensure that all participants have a fun, safe, and unforgettable beach experience. We will accomplish this goal by offering a full day of beach activities including: surfing, body boarding, and swimming, beach games, lifesaving demonstrations, kayaking and marine biology.

A professional instructor on a one-on-one basis will supervise all events. Each participant will leave the beach with a better understanding and respect for the ocean and beach.
