Notes

The program offers an opportunity for children & adults with physical and developmental disabilities an opportunity to play baseball once a week. This program is the official New York District 35 program sanctioned by Little League of America. Participants include children and youth with developmental disabilities, autism, Asperger's syndrome or PDD, Down syndrome, and physical disabilities.

There is no charge to the players to participate. The program has been successful and enjoyed by the participants.

We are simply offering the opportunity to play baseball. At no cost to the player, they will receive a full baseball uniform and a trophy at the end of the season. Each team will be equipped with safety softballs, helmets, bases, bats and tees for the younger players. The teams will have a manager and several coaches usually the parents of the players. In addition, each team will have volunteer "buddies" which are parents, siblings, boy/girl scouts, and volunteers from the community. Each "buddy" will receive a staff t-shirt and assist players in general. Players requiring one-to-one assistance will have their own "buddy". There is no paid staff associated with the program. All funding is used to cover the cost of running the program. Games will be on Sundays for two hours in the spring and fall and two one and half-hour sessions one weeknight during the winter months.
