Welcome to SRS!!! Special Recreation Services (SRS) is a special recreation cooperative of the Calumet Memorial, Dolton and Riverdale Park Districts, as well as the South Holland and Thornton Parks & Recreation Departments.
SRS was organized to provide recreation and leisure programs for children and adults with disabilities in South Cook County. All programs are designed to meet the individual needs of each consumer. SRS programs are offered both directly through the SRS office, and in conjunction with the regular programs of the above-mentioned park districts.
Activities are scheduled either weekly, or once as a special event. Weekly activities are ongoing throughout the year, but may vary during each session. Sessions are generally 8 weeks, and there are 5 sessions per year. Special event activities are usually scheduled once per year, and there are different special events per session.
Adaptive programs such as: Visits to Brookfield Zoo, Walking Clubs, Music Listening Club, Visit to Adler Planetarium, Fishing; Fitness Clubs, Special Olympics Basketball, Fishing Clubs, Sports Programs, and Social Gatherings.
