The following programs are sponsored by the Henderson-Vance Recreation and Parks Department.

  • Vance Violets - the Recreation Department offers a singing program for senior citizens ages 55 and up. This program meets every other Friday afternoon at 1pm at the Vance County Senior Center. This group travels to various nursing and retirement homes, civic clubs, and community activities. Attendance averages 15 persons per meeting.
  • Senior Dance - the Recreation Department offers a quarterly Senior Dance for senior citizens ages 55 and up. Live band and light refreshments are provided.
  • Golden Age Club – The Recreation Dept. offers a senior citizens club that meets every Wednesday from 10am – noon at the First Presbyterian Church. The group enjoys weekly brunch and monthly field trips.
  • Region K Senior Games – The Recreation Department serves as the Vance County host for Region K Senior Games. This Spring two days of games will be held in Vance County. Seniors age 55 and older can enjoy shuffleboard and croquet at Fox Pond Park and table tennis, swimming, walking, and badminton at the Aycock Recreation Center. Registration forms can be picked up at the Vance County Senior Center and at the Aycock Recreation Center.
