Notes

Rancho Vista Equine Therapy Center provides quality equine-assisted therapy and programs for children, youth, and adults with physical and emotional disabilities and special needs to enrich their lives and strengthen their abilities to participate in the community.

The Center is an organization of highly skilled professionals dedicated to helping people achieve increased physical ability, improved mental health, and a sense of self-confidence through equine therapy in a safe and enjoyable atmosphere. Schools, therapists, social service and mental health agencies, and individual riders utilize our variety of programs. There are no other therapeutic riding programs in the area commited to serving the challenging disabilities we address.

Rancho Vista Equine Therapy Center is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3), Colorado corporation.

Rancho Vista Equine Therapy Center:
  • provides equine-assisted physical and mental health therapies and programs for children, youth, and adults with disabilities and special needs to enrich their lives and strengthen their abilities to participate in the community.
  • prepares, presents, and publishes educational materials on equine therapy methods and operations.
  • increases the awareness of equine therapy services and of the benefits of therapeutic riding in the greater Northern Colorado community.
Equine-Facilitated Mental Health
RVETC works with children, youth, and families who are skills deficient. Within the framework of a psycho-educational teaching model, our program uses a hands-on, experiential curriculum, allowing for direct participation and learning in a safe, problem-solving atmosphere. Individual mental health concerns are addressed by using the horse as a facilitator. We teach basic horse handling and management skills as metaphors to improving communication, building trust, practicing cooperation, increasing nurturing skills, and creating better relationships. As students learn resiliency skills, they become equipped to make better choices now and in the future.
