EquiVenture Therapeutic Riding, Inc. (EVTR) has been providing riding programs for children who have physical or cognitive disabilities since 1993. Students learn riding skills and horse care in an educational and therapy based milieu. They provide a challenging, safety oriented and enjoyable atmosphere.

It's mission is:

  • To provide a program of therapeutic horseback riding for persons with disabilities.
  • To create a clearinghouse of information which may be of particular value and interest to persons with disabilities, their parents and private and public agencies and institutions with respect to the uses and benefits of therapeutic horseback riding.
EquiVenture is located in Howard County and is the only facility in the country that has been able to operate for this long without ever charging a fee to their riders. They do this by utilizing an extensive all-volunteer staff. The volunteers assist the riders by leading the horses or side walking or they help in many other ways including horse care, barn maintenance, publicity, and fund-raising. This is just a few of the ways their volunteers keep the program going.
