THE CHAPS is a nationally accredited horseback riding program for individuals with disabilities. Accreditation is throguh the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) with CHAPS rated as a Premier Operating Center. It involves a multidisciplinary Purdue University team and volunteer professionals from the community. The program is a therapeutic, educational, and leisure activity for students and their families.
Individuals with disabilities ages 3 and up are eligible to participate in THE CHAPS program. Authorization from each rider's physician is required. Individuals participating in this program receive an evaluation of their riding ability prior to starting the program.
