Notes

Ontario Sailing is committed to providing sailing opportunities for people with disabilities.

  • Access BOOM
The Access BOOM Mobile is a mobile sailing school for children with disabilities. This mobile uses specially designed boats called Access Dinghy’s that give people with even a high level of physical or cognitive disability the opportunity to sail independently, and safely. This program is about fun, independence and learning.
  • Able Sail Mobile
If your club or organization is thinking about starting an accessible sailing program, let us bring our Able Sail Mobile to you. An Ontario Sailing staff member or volunteer will bring an accessible sailboat to your club for a day so that you can see for yourself the rewards of offering an Able Sail Program first hand.
  • Boat Loan Program
If your club is in the process of starting an Able Sail Program, but do not have the boats that you need to get people on the water, we might be able to help. Ontario Sailing has a limited number of Access Dinghy’s, and Martin 16 sloops that we loan or lease to clubs on a 1 or 2-year bases. Please complete the application form and return it to Ontario Sailing by mail or fax.
  • Competitive Sailing
Each year several clubs in Ontario host regattas and training clinics for sailors with disabilities competing in the Martin 16 or Access Dinghy Class. Check out the Racing page for a complete list of regattas and training clinics.
