Discovery Riders, Inc. is a non-profit corporation created to provide individual clients in Logan and surrounding counties safe and affordable hippotherapy and therapeutic riding lessons.
We began hippotherapy in the fall of 1997 with one child, one horse and one therapist as a pilot program at a YMCA camp. After two years and 30 children later, we formed Discovery Riders, Inc. to provide both hippotherapy and therapeutic riding lessons. We operate hippotherapy with three wonderful horses at a family's farm where they have an indoor arena. Hippotherapy sessions are from April through November. Therapeutic Riding lessons are held at another family's farm with two horses and a NARHA certified instructor. Local physical and occupational therapists with special training by the American Hippotherapy Association are able to use the horses as a treatment tool to achieve traditional therapy goals. We are a young organization with a simple desire to serve a very special population of children and adults.
