Notes

The Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program (AFAP) is a water exercise program designed for people with arthritis and related conditions. Water exercise is especially good for people with arthritis, because it allows you to exercise without putting excess strain on your joints and muscles. The AFAP gives you the opportunity to do gentle activities in warm water, with guidance from a trained instructor. Although it is a nonclinical program (one that will not replace a prescribed regimen of therapeutic exercise), past participants have enjoyed some physical benefits such as decreased pain and stiffness.

The Baptist Healthplex and The Nutrition Center combine the professional expertise of degreed fitness counselors and registered dietitians to help people develop healthy lifestyles to manage weight, promote fitness and prevent disease.

At each location of the Baptist Healthplex, a fitness counselor meets with each new member to review his or her medical history and evaluate any health issues to be considered when exercising. An assessment will determine the new member's fitness level, which will assist our staff in developing a personal exercise program.

The Nutrition Center offers a range of medically-supervised, practical nutrition programs that can help you and your family chart a healthy path through the world of drive-through fast food and home-delivery pizza. All programs are staffed by professionals, such as registered dietitians and licensed counselors, with clinical training in their fields of expertise.
