Notes

The mission of Camp Carefree is to provide a fun-filled, educational camping experience for children with diabetes that will help them to develop and maintain active, healthy lifestyles.

Camp Carefree is located at Lions Camp Pride on the shores of Merrymeeting Lake in New Durham, New Hampshire. The facilities include spacious camper cabins, a health care center, a large dining hall, separate shower houses, complete waterfront system, playing areas, and a low element ropes course. The two-week Camp Carefree experience is designed for 120 campers, and six to eight counselors-in-training (CITs). There is a ratio of one staff member for every five campers.

Activities include hiking, arts & crafts, counselor treats, camp-wide games, swimming at the scenic beach and cove on Merrymeeting Lake, overnights in the Tipi, and the Ropes Course.

The typical day includes two activity periods in the morning (separated by mid-morning snack), two activity periods in the afternoon (separated by rest-hour and mid-afternoon snack), counselors treat/shower period before dinner, and evening program following dinner. Each day ends with the entire camp coming together for Closing Circle.
