Girl Scouts of Crooked Tree hosts its summer resident camp program at Camp Sakakawea on Bass Lake in Traverse City. This Girl Scout Camp adheres to the highest standards of health and safety as set forth by Girl Scouts of the USA, the State of Michigan, and local regulations.

Campers stay in platform tents. Facilities include a large lodge, two log cabins for crafts and activities, a large shower house, a health center, open picnic pavilions, a troop house, trading center, and a pristine waterfront area staffed by certified waterfront instructors.

Resident camp sessions are available to all girls (Girl Scouts and non-Girl Scouts) from 6-17 years of age. Our youngest campers have the option of two-day sessions. Our older and more experienced campers enjoy sessions that are six days long. Special family camping sessions-Dad & Me Weekend or Mom & Me Weekend-afford parents and their daughters the opportunity to spend quality time together in the great outdoors.

Camp sessions are designed to spark a variety of interests. Waterfront activities may include swimming, canoeing, sailing, fishing, row boating, and learning about aquatic life. Nature activities often include exploring nature trails, studying animal wildlife, surviving in the wilderness, and creating nature crafts. Tennis, volleyball, basketball, and a wide variety of games are offered on a regular basis. Backpacking is offered both on and off the site. The ever-popular horse sessions are designed for both the novice and experienced rider.
