Camp Staff

Camp staff members with special qualifications instruct in many of the camp activities. With more than 1 staff person for every 5 campers, each child receives lots of personal attention. Many of the staff also have diabetes so they are positive role models for the children, as well as friends, caregivers, and coaches.

Camp Ho Mita Kodas facilities include, the Great Hall with its modern new dispensary and spacious dining hall addition, beautiful swimming pool, two tennis courts, Founders Lake for boating and fishing, covered outdoor Recreation Pavilion, Arts and Crafts A-Frame, Team Challenge Course, new Climbing Wall, Nature Center, many scenic trails, large grass play areas, and 8 screened and ventilated cabins to accommodate up to 64 boys and girls each camp session.

Medical Program

Experienced physicians from the areas major medical centers and teaching hospitals oversee the care of each camper during regular visits to camp. A medically trained dispensary staff is on duty 24 hours a day. A Registered Dietitian plans and supervises the well-balanced meals and snacks prepared for campers by our experienced staff of professional cooks.

The camp provides diabetes supplies and insulin at no charge. Children are helped to retain good control and encouraged to achieve greater independence in diabetes self-management.

Camp Ho Mita Koda is proud to be accredited by the American Camping Association, complying with 300 national health, safety and program quality standards.
