To give youth/adults with developmental disabilities the opportunity to enjoy him/herself in a camping program. Campers are encouraged to participate in a full range of activities including games, sports, swimming, singing, and dancing. Because the camps are fairly small, we have a ratio of one counselor for every 2-3 campers, all have a chance to know one another and form close friendships.
The camper must be able to understand directions and communicate basic needs. The camper must be independent in toileting and other self-care skills, and must be able to walk a moderate distance, due to the fact the camp facilities are spread out over a large area. The camper needs to walk to the shower house, bathroom, and dining facilities. Independent mobility is a must.
