Notes

Hand cycling is an alternative cycling sport for individuals who are interested in biking, but have limited use of their lower extremities. Most hand cycles are designed with three wheels instead of the normal two-wheeled bicycles and allow the user to peddle and steer the vehicle using only their upper body. These three-wheel bikes limit the need for balancing that a normal bicycle requires. The United spinal Association currently runs a club that meets every Thursday at Fort Totten in Bayside, NY, starting May 20th, 2004, at 5:30 PM sharp, and continuing through September 30, 2004. Participants must bring their own equipment – helmets are mandatory.
