Notes

Rock Climbing:

Rock climbing is one of TRAILs most challenging adventures. With the support of trained volunteers, participants are able to experience the success and excitement of climbing to the top of a rock wall! This activity involves using motor planning and coordination skills that are often difficult for children with disabilities. They learn to team work with other children and adults, and the joy of succeeding a big task by breaking them into small steps.

For some participants, climbing up just a foot is a triumph! Others seek the challenge of one of the many difficult routes up the full 40-foot wall. Our volunteers are certified in belay techniques by the staff of The Wall, an indoor climbing gym in Quechee, VT, where this program is held in the Fall.
