HCESC Therapeutic Riding Program was founded on the belief that the experience of riding horses in a secure, challenging and supportive environment dramatically improves the lives of individuals who are physically, emotionally or developmentally challenged. Established in 1998 with three donated horses, the program now serves over 200 clients with 16 donated horses and 100 volunteers.
Our 28 stall 28 acre farm is located in Pittstown, New Jersey and serves residents of Hunterdon, Somerset, Warren, Mercer, and surrounding counties. Our facility has no indoor ring so we are open from April to November. Classes are held daily except Sunday.
The program offers therapeutic riding lessons to both adults and children. We provide a safe, effective and innovative program for riders with a wide range of disabilities including autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, traumatic brain injury, blindness and other forms of mental, emotional and communicative disorders.
