General Description
Lake Livingston State Park is located in the piney woods region of East Texas. Lake Livingston State Park was created and constructed in 1971 by the Trinity River Authority. And was acquired by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in 1972, before that it was previously owned by a Large Timber Company. We get our name from the lake; which is the second largest man made lake in the state. We occupy 635-52 acres on the Southeast shores of Lake Livingston. The park is located 6 miles Southwest of the town of Livingston, and 75 miles north of the city of Houston.

The park contains 635 acres of soft and hard wood. Most abundant are the Loblolly Pine, Southern Yellow Pine, Willow Oak, Water Oak, Red Oak, Post Oak, and the American sweet Gum. Ornamenting many of these trees are the Muscadine Grape vine and the very colorful Trumpet Vine. The forest floor is densely populated with many species native to Texas such as the Youpon Holly, American Beauty Berry, and the Dwarf Palmetto. These native plants provide food for wildlife such as: the White-tail deer, Swamp Rabbit, Armadillo, Red Fox Squirrel, and many different species of birds just to name a few.

We offer camping, which includes water/electric/sewer, water/electric, and Water only sites, 10 shelters, hiking, biking, interpretive programs, picnicking, a swimming pool, and boating.
