General Description
The Mohonk Preserve is New York State''s largest member- and visitor-supported land preserve. The Preserve maintains over 6,500 acres of land on the Northern Shawangunk Ridge for the purposes of land protection, stewardship, education and scientific research. The dramatic geologic features of the Preserve make it the most visited rock climbing destination east of the Mississippi.

Other recreational opportunitities include mountain biking, horseback riding, bouldering, cross-country skiing and hiking. Environmental education programs offer varying levels of accessibility through the Preserve''s "NatureAccess" program for school groups and the general public.
