General Description
    Ouray National Wildlife Refuge in one of over 540 National Wildlife Refuges managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The Refuge is located 30 miles southwest of Vernal, Utah. Sixteen miles of the Green River flows through this 12,000 acre Wildlife Refuge providing flooded ''bottoms'' during years of high river flows. Over 230 birds, 315 plants, and 57 mammals may occur at Ouray National Wildlife Refuge. The auto tour route travels through several habitat types such as wetland, riverine, cottonwood/willow riparian, semi-arid desert shrubland and grasslands.
