General Description
The Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site contains Springwood, the birthplace, life-long residence and "summer White House" of the 32nd President and only president elected to four terms. The 300 acre estate includes the Rose Garden where President and Mrs. Roosevelt are buried. During FDR''s years as New York State governor and as U.S. President, Hyde Park was the nucleus of his life and career. FDR''s lifelong emotional connection to Hyde Park provided him with a place for reflection, solitude, personal restoration, and was a setting for world-changing decisions.
