  • Mesa Vista Therapeutics (MVT) is a NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped Association) certified center and is a member of the Therapeutic Riding Association of Virginia.

    We serve riders with a variety of special needs including Autism, Cerebal Palsy, Developmental Delay, Spinal Cord Injury, Stroke, Down Syndrome, ADD / ADHD, Vision / hearing impaired, Muscular Dystrophy and Multiple Sclerosis, and when possible challenged and able riders participate together.

    Therapeutic riding is based on the three-dimensional, rhythmical motion of the horse which stimulates and works the muscles of the rider. The sensory-motor input received by the rider from the horse�s gait is almost identical to the human gait.

    What Makes Us Unique:

    • We welcome students as young as 2 years old
    • Our investment in a draft horse cross allows us to takes students up to 250 pounds while others can only allow students up to 150 pounds
    • Wheelchair students of all ages are welcome
    • In addition to an outdoor riding ring, we have a large indoor riding arena (64 x 150 ft.) that allows students to ride year round in all types of weather
    • A classroom, physical therapy / massage / acupuncture room, offices, lounge and snack room are currently under construction overlooking the indoor riding arena

    Therapeutic Riding Lessons ($30 / half-hour) include:

    • Target building core muscles and other muscle groups
    • Stretching exercises
    • Balance work
    • Work on focus / attention and following directions
    • Basic to advanced riding skills, based on experience of rider

    General Riding Lessons ($30 / half-hour) include:

    • Hunt Seat and Western lessons available
    • Basic to intermediate riding skills, based on experience of rider
    • Dressage riding and hunter over fences
    • Show preparation

    Boarding Monthly Rates:

    • $1000 full stall boarding and training
    • $650 full stall boarding which includes grooming, blanketing, assisting farrier and veterinarian
    • $125 for weekly exercising
    • Boarding rates include blanketing and daily grooming

    Additional Services:

    • On-site Farrier for services from trims to corrective shoeing
    • $100 for Rider acupuncture
    • $90 for Rider massage
    • Horse Acupuncture and Chiropractic service available soon
