Description
  • MISSION STATEMENT: To enrich the lives of challenged individuals through organized, competitive recreation and camaraderie.

Notes

Wheelchair basketball began in 1988 as a program of Just for Kids. The athletes met at Gorman School until 1995 when the Mad River School District agreed to provide the gymnasium at Virginia Stevenson Elementary School for practice and games.

In 2001, the Miami Valley Association for Disabled Athletes (MVADA) gained non-profit status. In early 2009 MVADA acquired the basketball program from the Just for Kids program. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Just for Kids for their support over the years. MVADA would not be the association it is today without their guidance and contribution. We are continuing to use the gym at Virginia Stevenson Elementary, but are also adding additional gym sites for the 2009-2010 basketball season.

Our future goals include reaching challenged individuals throughout the Miami Valley via satellite programs in several communities. We plan to include other programs such as wheelchair baseball, football, volleyball, tennis, track, bocce ball, and swimming. New programs will be explored as our funds will allow.
