  • Blind Sport New Zealand is the NSO (National Sporting Organisation) for blind sport, headquartered in the "City of Sails", Auckland; New Zealand's largest city. It is recognised by Government and SPARC (Sport and Recreation New Zealand) as the governing body for blind sport. Blind Sport New Zealand is funded by the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind and SPARC and promotes opportunities for blind athletes to participate in National, International events and the Paralympics (Parallel Olympics). It was formed in 1991 to negotiate funding and opportunities in sport both in New Zealand and internationally, on behalf of visually impaired individuals and groups. Individuals or groups involved with recognised sports may apply for funding to BSNZ dependent on the applicable Rules, Regulations, policies and guidelines. It is a member of IBSA (International Blind Sports Federation).
