  • Tri County Special Recreation Association is a cooperative extension of two park districts and a village recreation department. The agency services parts of Cook, DuPage and Will counties in the southwest Chicago suburban area. Our programs held in all of our member communities in public and commercial recreation facilities.

    The cooperative members are listed below:
    • Lemont Park District
    • Lockport Township Park District
    • Village of Romeoville
    Programs

    Tri County Special Recreation Association offers three seasons of programs each year, winter/spring, summer and fall. Age appropriate social and recreational opportunities are designed to meet the individual needs of each participant. Over 140 weekly programs and special events are offered each year.

    The variety of programs includes:
    • Athletics & Special Olympics
    • Arts & Crafts
    • Social Clubs
    • Day Camps
    • Teen and Young Adult Skills Development
    • Day Trips
    • Skill Development
    • Special Education
    Tri County SRA staff also assist our member district staff in including residents with disabilities into their park district or village recreation department programs. Types of support include staff training, adapted equipment, sign language interpreters or program assistants.

    Participants

    Tri County SRA welcomes participants of all ages who have some type of special need or disability. Many of our participants are in special education classes or work in supported employment environments. We foster opportunities for children to participate with siblings in appropriate programs. Our programs are designed with low staff to participant ratio that can promote successful participation. Accommodations are made to help ensure Program success. Our priority is the completion of successful leisure pursuits.
