Our Programs

Wheelchair Sports and Recreation: Individuals with physical disabilities -there's an activity for everyone and we support our members to attend and participate in a wide range of activities and events.

Social Activities: Enjoy friendship and camaraderie with people that share your interests and concerns. From our free monthly members lunch to bingo nights and holiday parties at the VA Spinal Cord Injury Center, Chapter office, and local restaurants, we strive to offer something fun and worthwhile for everyone. Legislative and Advocacy Work: We conduct a very active program aimed at improving our members' lives through changing laws and advocating for their rights. Members are always welcome to join our efforts.

Grants and Awards: Funding is available to members for various beneficial activities. We also assist medical personal with financial aid to attend seminars associated with Spinal Cord Injury and Dysfunction. We also help disabled children through National Science Fair awards, newspapers in the classrooms, and by providing scholarships for sporting events and equipment for teams. Requirements for funding vary, but members always get highest priority consideration.

Spinal Cord Injury Center: The Zia Chapter maintains a very close relationship with the Albuquerque VAMC SCIC. Whether it's the Chapter helping sponsor an SCIC activity or the SCIC helping us with our joint program to provide veterans with computer education and equipment, we work hard to make your visit to the SCIC beneficial.

Zia Roadrunner: Members, community leaders, and others stay informed of chapter activities, disability issues, and news of interest to them through our monthly newsletter.
