Wildwasser Sport has begun shipping the its new Balanced Wing Rudder which offers tremendous performance advantages over previous designs. Custom fit to the range of Prijon kayaks, the foil shaped Balanced Wing Rudder differs from other rudders in that the wide point of its "wing-foil" is positioned underneath the lateral hinge pin of the rudder. The positioning means that the leading edge of the rudder blade enters laminar flow off the transverse side of the boat in motion, rather than "sweeping" on an overly abrupt angle on the traditional side of the boat. This difference means that the blade turns with "lift" effect rather than "push" effect and there is much less drag (slowing) on the boat itself while it is turned or steered.
