From our fastest composite racing kayak to our most playful recreational kayak, all Neckys are built with the best possible performance in mind. Any manufacturer can develop boats that simply float, but at Necky, "simple" just won't do. A kayak is an incredibly complex craft-for every performance feature gained, another may be lost. Kayak design is a delicate negotiation and compromise; and that's before the paddler and the water are added to the equation.
Each of you is as different as our kayaks. And the water is an ever-changing medium. A kayak must be built to withstand and work with the apparent chaos of nature. A kayak must come alive. That said, there are some basic features to understand before you enter the world of paddling. Performance comes down to a few things combined: the shape of the hull, the skills and shape of the paddler, and the nature of the water. Kayak design is one part science to two parts art.
