The Institute of Medicine of the National Academies (IOM), University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and the UIC College of Medicine are cosponsoring a conference for academics, scientists, physicians and public health professionals regarding the causes, treatment and potential preventative measures and public policy implications for the rising rates of diabetes and obesity in the United States. Sessions will address biomedical advances in diabetes treatment and prevention of risk and health, policy and interventions.

The program will be held at the UIC Forum on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, from 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., concluding with a reception from 5:00 to 6:00 P.M.

Following the reception, the IOM President will host a dinner and informal meeting of members in the Chicago and Midwest region.
