In its 9th year, this event attracts individuals aged 8 to 90 who use the Concept 2 rowing machine to attain physical fitness. Additionally, major Chicago Area Junior and Collegiate rowing teams send competitors to win 'bragging' rights as the best in a 2000 meter timed row.

Few adaptive athletes are familiar with indoor or on-water rowing as a competitive or fitness possibility. The mission of our Adaptive Initiative is to build awareness and initiate local program development. Dr. Ed Melian, an adaptive rowing competitor, will be on hand for a noon demonstration of indoor rowing.

At this years event, we will have two modified Indoor Rower (ergs) on display; one from Concept 2 and one from Kevin Carr who originally developed modified seats for paddlers. Additionally, we will demonstrate ErgChatter a free software tool designed with the vision impaired indoor rower in mind.

WinTech Racing, our event sponsor, is the world's leading developer of modified racing shells for the adaptive rower. They are in the final approval stages with FISA to provide racing shells for the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing. On hand will be a display of their seat and pontoon configurations.
